Channing Tatum Drops $6M on Beverly Hills Home
YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: So swears the ever-intrepid real estate yenta Yolanda Yakketyyak: Hot and hunky actor Channing Tatum — who killed it in “Foxcatcher” as far as this property gossip is concerned — quietly dropped $6 million for a gated abode on an also-gated, celebrity-lined street in the Beverly Hills Post Office area. (Some of Mister Channing’s famous new neighbors include Harry Styles and Demi Moore.)
BUYER: Channing Tatum LOCATION: Beverly Hills (Post Office), Calif. PRICE: $6 million SIZE: 4,853 square feet, 5 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms
Property records show the muscled “Magic Mike” star, who described himself last year in GQ as a high-functioning alcoholic, purchased the celeb-pedigreed and vaguely Cape Cod-style 4,853-square-foot residence via trust from filmmaker Roberto Sneider, a member of Mexico’s prodigiously rich Oberfeld family. Sneider and his writer-director wife, Patricia Sneider, acquired the one-acre property in April 2011 for $4.425 million from CAA uber-agent Kevin Huvane, who owned the property since 1994, when he bought it for $900,000 from Princess Leia herself, Carrie Fisher.
Listing details we managed to tease up out of the Internet show the three-story, shingle-sided residence includes a nearly 45-foot long combination living/dining room with double-height ceiling, a family room and a black-and-white eat-in kitchen with marble slab countertops and custom tile flooring. There are three en suite guest/family bedrooms, one with fireplace, and two master suites, a good-sized one on the uppermost level and a larger one on the main floor — furnished at the time of its sale as a den/game room — with deluxe bathroom and fitted dressing room. Most of the main floor rooms open to a series of terraces and decks that overlook the lushly landscaped grounds and rugged mountain surroundings. The multiwinged house makes an angled, crab-like embrace of a flat, foliage-ringed backyard with free-from swimming pool, spa and trellised, poolside structure with chunky, stacked stone fireplace.
The beaver busy actor and budding movie producer and his dancer-actress wife, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, continue to own a secluded home nestled into a sylvan hillside above L.A.’s Laurel Canyon that was purchased, per property records, via trust in the spring of 2008 for $2.6 million.
