Jennifer Lopez Selling L.A. Home for $17 Million

YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: The children have Platinum Triangle real estate mover and shaker Peter Propertyseller to thank for thoughtfully letting us know that fly girl-turned-entrepreneurial international entertainer Jennifer Lopez — she sings, she dances, she acts, she produces, she designs clothes and home goods, she was a prodigiously compensated judge on “American Idol,” and she sells oceans of branded fragrances — has surreptitiously floated her big ol’ mansion in L.A.’s hoity-toity and equestrian-oriented Hidden Hills enclave as a whisper listing with an asking price of $17 million.

SELLER: Jennifer Lopez LOCATION: Hidden Hills, Calif. PRICE: $17 million SIZE: 17,129 square feet, 9 bedrooms, 11 full and 2 half bathrooms

Property records and other online resources show that Miz Lopez and her third ex-husband, salsa superstar and property gossip regular Marc Anthony, paid $8.2 million for the property in late 2010. The estate’s two parcels total 3.13 largely flat acres and, per digitally marketing materials, the bi-winged residence weighs in at a hefty 17,129 square feet, with nine bedrooms and 11 full and two half bathrooms.

The large but unassuming brick-faced main house opens to a decadent (and somewhat cliché) double-height reception hall flanked by generously proportioned and sumptuously appointed formal living and dining rooms, both with wood-burning fireplaces. A central stair hall and a small study/library lead back to the less formal but still highly stylized and decidedly glam family quarters that include a colossal kitchen with slab marble countertops, an informal eating area and a family room fitted with a huge built-in wet bar that includes a corkscrew staircase that winds down to a wine cellar.

The eight bedrooms and 8.5 bathrooms in the main house include three guest or staff bedrooms on the main floor, one en suite and two that share a Jack ‘n’ Jill bathroom, plus four more guest/family bedrooms in the north wing of the upper floor that each have a walk-in closet and en suite bathroom. The celeb-sized master suite occupies the upper floor’s entire south wing and encompasses a large bedroom (with a mirrored four-poster bed), a smaller sitting room with corner fireplace, a private stone terrace with sweeping view and a pair of walk-in closets, one of which is 350 square feet and no doubt fitted like a swank boutique. The spacious bathroom has chocolate-brown walls, some sort of marble or maybe onyx tile flooring, twin pedestal sinks plus a mirrored make-up vanity, an oversized steam shower, a private cubicle for the toilet and bidet and a free-standing soaking tub set into a windowed dormer lined with floor-to-ceiling shelves filled with books and a high-brow apothecary’s worth of bath-time lotions and potions.

A central porte cochère links the circular drive to a piazza-sized rear motor court and am enclosed breezeway passes over the porte cochère to connect main house to a gigantic and completely customized entertainment pavilion where a 1,000-plus-square-foot saloon lounge has a heavily articulated coffered ceiling, a full bar, a television surmounted fireplace, French door access to the backyard and a bookcase-lined poker nook. The pavilion’s other professional and recreational amenities include a 20-seat theater with stadium seating, a fully equipped dance studio/gym with adjoining kitchenette and laundry room, and a professional-grade recording studio with sound-proofed sound booth. On the main floor there’s also a self-contained and unusually luxurious one bedroom and one bathroom au pair apartment, and upstairs an extensive beautifying suite offers two spacious lounges, one small windowless bathroom, a 500-square foot dressing/fitting room, a cosmetology salon with massage facilities and four walk-in closets.

Numerous and large lanai and roomy terraces along the rear of both the main house and the entertainment pavilion transition the interiors spaces to an expansive backyard with vast well-watered lawns, manicured gardens, a resort-style swimming pool and spa, and an outdoor kitchen with barbecue grill. Miz Lopez appears to have grassed over what was once a tennis court where she installed a jungle gym and a trampoline.

Other high-profile entertainment industry residents of the exclusive, guard-gated Hidden Hills enclave include Drake, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson, and LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian, Catherine Bell and Colbie Caillat.

We really haven’t any idea if Miz Lopez plans to buy another house in Los Angeles, but we do know that over the last couple of years she’s buttressed her real estate portfolio with a couple of substantial East Coast properties. In May 2013 she dropped $9.995 million for a landlocked, 2.83-acre estate with an 8,500-square-foot shingled mansion in the low-profile but high-priced Hamptons community of Water Mill, and in October 2014 she shelled out $20,161,350 for a 6,540-square-foot duplex penthouse in a New York City boutique building where other residents include Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mevinsky.
