Weekly Topics: What Wikipedia Can’t Tell You About Los Angeles Real Estate...

I am sure that everyone is familiar with Wikipedia. Wikipedia is basically a user generated online encyclopedia, simply put. Wikipedia was created back in 2001 and it has become one of the leading and most useful websites today. However, keep in mind that there are many positives and negatives features to Wikipedia allowing its users to create and edit content.

The primary drawbacks of Wikipedia are the trustworthiness of those who provide to the articles and the truthfulness of the information the articles enclose. The staff edits the articles only after publication. Allowing the website to be susceptible to errors and manipulation. Although experts write some entries, people have no knowledge to whether or not an expert or non-specialist is publishing. Sometimes it is nearly impossible for users to tell the difference.

While there are many disadvantages, I believe the benefits outweigh the flaws. Wikipedia is impressively quick and easy to find pertinent information. The website is great for finding a basic explanation about something. The content is rich and wide-ranging. It explains information in simple terms that are easy for everyone to understand, even those unfamiliar with the topic.

Wikipedia is becoming one of the most popular ways for people to retrieve information these days. I use the website all the time, especially to find out general information about a topic. It is fast, free, convenient, and comprehensive. However, when it comes to Los Angeles Real Estate there are particular areas in which only a knowledgeable real estate broker, like myself, can help with understanding.

When buying a home, a good broker is an incredibly valuable resource, especially if it’s your first time. Agents serve as guides to the neighborhood and the home buying process, which can get very complicated and no transaction is exactly the same. Seasoned agents are usually well connected, having a Rolodex of mortgage brokers, inspectors, and even upcoming listings that the rest of the public does not have access or knowledge. Brokers talk to other brokers. If someone just got a great listing, and someone else in their office happens to have a client that it’s perfect for, it’s going to be shown and bid on without ever getting into the public market. This is why you need a seasoned broker, especially when you’re buying a home. A good broker’s network of others in the business could be your magic bullet.

Positioning oneself in the Los Angeles Real Estate marketplace, whether a buyer or seller, can come with its challenges. Many people like to consider themselves experts when it comes to real estate, but the business is a nuanced one, best navigated by a professional. Majority of the times, buyers are knowledgeable to where they wish to live and may have a general idea of what it will cost to enter into that neighborhood. However, the funny thing about Los Angeles Real Estate is that it is so area specific. All the areas are divided, subdivided and then divided again if you can see where I am going with this statement. For this same reason, market values are very susceptible to fluctuation. You never want to overpay or undersell, so it is best to leave it to the professionals. So although Wikipedia may be able to help you draw the map of Los Angeles’ real estate market, it’s the real estate agent that ultimately helps you dig to discover the treasure.

Those are my thoughts, interested in hearing yours.
