Kesha Buys Venice Bungalow
BUYER: Kesha LOCATION: Venice, CA PRICE: $1.65 million SIZE: 1,416 square feet, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms
YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: As was first reported by the busy celebrity property beavers at the “L.A. Times,” 27-year old songwriter, pop star and yodeling rapper Kesha dropped $1.65 million for un pequeño Spanish-style bungalow in an area of Venice (CA) that’s so close to the border with Santa Monica it might as well be in Santa Monica.
The native Angeleno — she dumped the affected dollar sign in her name when she got out of rehab for an eating disorder earlier this year — opted, as per digital marketing materials, for a 1925 mini-casa that measures in at a minuscule-by-celeb-standards 1,416 square feet with three bedrooms and two bathrooms plus a detached one-car garage with alley access converted by the not-famous sellers to an art studio.
A vine-draped portico with rustic, turquoise colored front door opens directly into the compact living room that at the time of Kesha’s purchase had narrow gauge honey blond wood floors and a mirrored fireplace. That’s right, children, a mirrored fireplace in a 1925 Spanish bungalow just a half a dozen or so blocks from the beach. French doors in the adjoining dining room open to a tiny, Saltillo-tiled side porch and the neighboring kitchen has black and white checkerboard flooring, high-quality stainless steel appliances and black marble counter tops on white, Shaker-style cabinetry. A neighboring pantry vexingly close to if not equally as large as the kitchen itself leads out to the backyard.
Two on-the-small-side bedrooms — one made up in listing photos as a home office with built-in cabinetry and shelving — share a fairly puny hall bathroom with white subway tiled tub/shower combo. The master bedroom at the back of the house has a different type of wood floor than in the rest of the house as well as French door access to the backyard and an all-white bathroom with super-sized picture window that provides an all-encompassing view of the backyard as well as a wide-open view of the bathroom from the backyard.
A Saltillo tiled dining terrace off the kitchen/pantry has a built-in barbecue situation and steps down to another Saltillo tiled terrace outside the master bedroom that gives way to a tiny and shaded patch of grass, a cattycorner outdoor fireplace and one of those freestanding molded plastic plug-in spa tubs.
