Carrie-Ann Moss Sells Pacific Palisades Ranch House
SELLER: Carrie-Anne Moss LOCATION: Pacific Palisades, CA PRICE: $4,500,000 SIZE: (approx.) 3,500 square feet, 4 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms
YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: Carrie-Anne Moss, a high cheek boned beauty and veteran Tinseltowner best known as the hardcore hacker Trinity in the wildly successful “Matrix” movie franchise, quietly sold her homey, well-tended ranch-style residence in a secluded and little known but highly coveted neighborhood in Pacific Palisades.
Property records show the Canadian-born and bred Miz Moss and her actor husband Steven Roy purchased the property in April 2006 for $3.4 million and put it on the open market in early March (2014) for $4,195,000.
Homes rarely come up for sale in the micro-neighborhood that’s adjacent to Will Rogers State Park — as far as this property gossip can tell, in the last three years just one other property has changed hands — and so, lucky lucky lucky for the Moss-Roys’ bank accounts, a bidding war broke out almost immediately and the hot property was quickly put into escrow and sold in just 21 days for $4.5 million. No, puppies, that is not a typo, the approximately 3,500-sq. ft. single-story ranch-style residence sold in three weeks for more than $300,000 over the asking price.
Built in the early 1950s and set behind high hedges, the single story residence has four bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms and interconnected living space with dark wood floors, vaulted ceilings, a couple of used brick fireplaces in the living and family rooms plus a third, raised (gas) fireplace in the family sized eat-in kitchen.
Brick walkways pass underneath mature shade trees on their way to the front door and we spied a small, raised bed kitchen garden in the front yard. At the back, numerous multi-paned sliding glass doors open the essentially U-shaped house to a spacious, covered and chandelier-lit brick paved courtyard with outdoor fireplace. The courtyard lounge gives way to a wide swathe of flat and well-watered lawn where the Moss-Roys had a super-sized and probably ludicrously expensive jungle gym installed between a couple of shade trees but opted not to have a swimming pool although, as pointed out in listing details, there’s certainly plenty of room for one.
