DJ Steve Aoki Re-Lists Laurel Canyon Crib
SELLER: Steve Aoki LOCATION: Los Angeles, CA PRICE: $1,199,000 SIZE: 2,480 square feet, 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms
YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: Cake-throwing electro house DJ Steve Aoki re-listed his modern minded house in L.A, as we first read on Realtor.com, with an asking price of $1.199 million. The Grammy-nominated entrepreneur — he’s son of Benihana founder Rocky Aoki and the half-brother to vaunted model Devon Aoki as well as the founder of the Dim Mak record label and the owner of four restaurants — purchased the property in October 2008 for $1.075 million and originally listed the 3+ story home in the heart of Laurel Canyon in March (2014) for $1.498 million.
Current listing information shows the 2,480 square foot house was built hard up a narrow canyon road in 1990 with five bedrooms and four bathrooms, at least two of which have been fairly recently renovated with glass-enclosed stall showers. An open-concept combination living/dining room has a fireplace and 20-foot ceilings, the adjacent kitchen is functional and clean if not particularly stylish and Mister Aoki not surprisingly installed a small recording studio with an insulated voice room. A corkscrew staircase connects a petite and lushly planted lower level garden patio at the back of the house to an upper level terrace with an over-the-rooftop hillside view.
