L.A. City Council has officially green lighted a plan to turn an old cargo facility at Los Angeles International Airport into a refuge – or swanky lounge – for paparazzi-weary celebrities. The council voted unanimously Tuesday in favor of approving a lease with Studio City-based private security firm Gavin de Becker & Associates, the firm behind the lounge plan. The lounge had already been approved by the Board of Airport Commissioners. Los Angeles World Airports, which operates and owns LAX, will take in approximately $3.4 million annually from the lease, and more than $34 million over the 10-year term of the contract, according to the Los Angeles Daily News. The lounge will be open to celebs as well as any passenger willing to pay a fee of around $1,800. -
